Episode 032: The Marked Marksman
(Episode 033: Usopp's Death?! Luffy - Yet to land?)

     Dubbed Title Meaning:
"The Marked Marksman" refers to Usopp being the "marked man" in the fishmen's eyes, since they chase him around the island trying to kill him or at least take him to Arlong to get him killed. Usopp is the "marksman" because.. he's the ship's sharpshooter.

     Dialogue Edit:
Usopp dove into the bushes as the fishmen chased him. When they wonder where he is, he shouts, (KF's translations) "Anyone who thinks Usopp-sama shouldn't die yet, should raise their hands now!" and afterwards, little shadows of Usopp with his arm up pop up with little voices saying, Hai~! :) In the dub, Usopp told the fishmen that they're surrounded by his band of pirates, and instead of "Hai" he says "I'm here!" many times.

     Digital Edit:
Very much like the edit with Genzo and Arlong, Chew's hand has been editted. [Dub|Sub]

     Dialogue Edit:
When Chew leaves the villager and dives in the water towards Usopp, the villager wasn't supposed to have any dialogue. Usopp thought the villager was cheering him on even though he couldn't hear what he was saying.

     Clip Edit:
Right after, we go back to Arlong Park... the clip of bottom half of Zoro as he crosses his legs is cut out.

Then, after seeing Arlong's flag, the close up of the beaten fishmen is cut out.

     Dialogue Edit:
Hachi asked Zoro whether he was a Marine or a guest, whilst dubbed Hachi asked Zolo whether he was a pirate or a guest.

     Clip Edit:
Nearly just one second, as one of Arlong's nakama tells him that the guy they caught earlier was Roronoa Zoro, Arlong picks him up, but this is cut out.

     Digital Edit:
Arlong's knife got moved a little. Just enough to scare Usopp, I guess. But in the original, it was close enough to cut the tip of poor Usopp-san's nose. [Dub|Sub]

     Clip Edit:
A little flip in the order of the next few scenes as Kuroobi looks at the room they locked Zoro in. In the original, it was: looking at the cut up ropes, seeing the full body of Kuroobi, then a zoomed out shot of Arlong's Park. It was backwards in the dub.

Arlong's crew didn't have any sweatdrops as they listen to Usopp making something up :(

When Nami shows herself to Arlong, Arlong getting up and walking towards her is cut out.

     Digital Edit:
Arlong's knife is further away once again. [Dub|Sub]

     Clip Edit:
One part of Nami walking towards Arlong is cut out, this was very close to the eyecatcher.

After Nami says that she swore on her tatoo, the following scene, which is Arlong's waving flag, was removed.

     Digital Edit:
Kuroobi grabs Arlong's dagger out and begins to tap the blade with his finger. His hand disappeared. [Dub|Sub]

     Clip Edit:
After Usopp spoke, Kuroobi puts the knife close to Usopp's face and then taps it close to his nose (ready to chop it off) in the second scene, and this was not shown in the dub at all.

Back to Zoro who is now in Cocoyashi village looking for Usopp, when Usopp is taken back to Arlong Park. He realizes that Usopp might be dead after Zoro was killing time by, probably nearly, killing the fishmen there. All the grey shots of him having a joyous time slicing them is cut out.

The close up of Nami's first map she drew after seeing Hachi underwater is cut out.

The close up of a dead merman floating across the water, then across Hachi who looks terribly terrified, is taken out. [Sub]

     Digital Edit:
That same merman floating around is digitally removed. fishmen population: -1 [Dub|Sub]

He's gone again. [Dub|Sub]

     Clip Edit:
Most of the grey flashback scenes were removed. The only one that was left alone was Hachi giving Zoro a ride.

     Dialogue Edit:
The fishmen were supposed to talk while Zoro's running in the forest.

     Clip Edit:
Usopp's reflection on Arlong's knife, which is now in Nami's hand, is cut out.

     Clip/Digital/Dialogue Edit:
The great rubber knife scene! Three kinds of edits in one go! Okay.. let's start from the beginning. Please bear with me. First, Usopp confidently holding his slingshot after unleashing Hissatsu Kemuriboshi (Smoke Star in the dub) is taken out. Him holding it, smiling, attempting to run, all of that. Nami stopping him was shown, which is how it's supposed to go. Then we see Usopp's very frightened face, that we were supposed to see after Nami stabs him. Usopp then pulls out an identical knife to the one that Nami holds. It's just a repeat of him taking out his Kemuriboshi, except it has been editted to a knife, everything in the last sentence and this sentence is dub only [Dub]. Next is Nami's devil-ish look which again was supposed to be after Usopp gets stabbed. Then right after, smokes flies again! It's a repeat of when Usopp used Kemuriboshi, and I don't think it was a commercial break here. Then they show yet another repeat of the fishmen coughing to Usopp's Kemuriboshi, but the screen goes from right to left. A couple of more repeats of stuff.. showed the fishmen staring at Nami here.. Nami pulling the blade out of Usopp.. you get the idea, yes? Anyways, in summary, a bunch of scenes flipped around, repeats of certain scenes, and the most important one. THERE IS NO RUBBER KNIFE! This scene was made to look like Nami actually did kill Usopp, there was no planning of the sort between the two of them. All suspense! She acted like a real devil-woman! She stabbed! With a real knife! -.- ... I am done.

     Dialogue Edit:
Arlong again, never have mentioned that he'd rather die than break a promise over money. He's not like that in the dub.

     Clip Edit:
The back shot of Arlong as Nami walks away is cut out.

Luffy's super close up is cut out and then placed after seeing poor dizzy Mohmoo.

Next, Mohmoo's super close up was removed.

Nami putting her hand on a door handle is cut out.

Knocked out Mohmoo after ramming into the wall (thus sending Sanji's boat flying) is taken out.

The boat hovering over the forested area for a while, then slowly sinking into it is taken out, also.

The screen clearing up gradually showed Luffy brushing the dust off of his hat. This is taken out because it was shown kind of together with a bottle of Sanji's wine falling down (other stuff was shown).

     Clip Edit:
The still shots of everyone's faces as Johnny tells them Usopp-aniki is now dead, are gone.

Nami looking out the window holding her hand was switched with the following Usopp scene.

A front view of a person underneath a grey cloak (can't see his face) slowly walking have been removed. They did show the back view, though. And instead of the front mysterious view, we immediately find out who it is (Usopp's clear face, bad 4Kids, that was from the next episode) instead of "wondering" who he might be since he wonders himself, asking himself "Am I a ghost...?".
