Episode 034: Belle of the Brawl
Episode 035: The Hidden Past! Female Fighter Bellemere!
Episode 036: Survive! Bellemere, the Mother, and Nami's Family!

New characters introduced: None

     Clip Edit:
Entire scenes from the beginning of the episode, where Arlong's top fishmen look through Sanji's broken ship and converse with Luffy, to when Nami 8 years ago wrote Cocoyashi on her first map were cut out to make enough room to fit another episode. This is quite a big chunk, about 4 minutes altogether. In the dub, it began with a scene from the last episode before we see young Nami began cheering (in the original, she cheered after she finished writing Cocoyashi. (Image)

     Digital Edit:
The sign for the bookstore was changed from "BooK" to "BookS". (Image)

As well, all the words or scribbles on the bindings of the books were erased. (Image 1, 2, 3) And the front, too. (Image 4, 5)

     Clip Edit:
The clip with the book store sign waving back and forth because Genzo caught Nami again was taken out.

     Digital Edit:
Book edit again, we are able to clearly see that Nami stole a Navigation book, but the front is all erased. (Image) book7

     Clip Edit:
Genzo marching off with Nami, that happens before a close up shot of a tangerine, is taken out.

     Digital Edit:

The word on Bellemere's shirt, MACE, is gone. Her smoke is gone, too. (Image)

     Clip/Dialogue Edit:
Bellemere flirting with Genzo (just to make fun of him) is taken out. This includes Bellemere touching his face and Genzo turning all red. In the dub, Genzo backed away because Bellmere said that he was stealing some of her tangerines.

     Digital Edit:
Last book screenshot! There are many more, and I even skipped some before this one, but I feel that you get the idea. (Image)

     Clip Edit:
Nami holding her head because Bellemere smacked her offscreen didn't happen in the dub. The time inbetween when Bellemere asked Nami why she was laughing, until Nami putting her hands behind her back, were cut out. But then, the close up of Bellemere in between that was put in during the time when Nami said that she knew Bellemere wouldn't get the book for her.

     Dialogue/Clip Edit:
Dubbed Nami didn't say anything about the price of the tangerines not rising in price or not selling at all. As well, while she's saying that, the close up of the tangerine grove is missing, too.

When Nojiko appears, she claims that she could've stolen the book better than Nami. The result, getting her and Nami smacked in the head (offscreen). After Nojiko first appears and before Bellemere opens up Nami's first map, are cut out.

Zooming in on the nagivation book, Nami smiling and saying that she wants to make a map of the world, and Bellemere holding up her map saying that it marks the first step to her dream were cut out.

Nami and Nojiko eating supper while Bellemere was sewing up Nami's new dress (which was a hand-me-down, she just sewed a lion on top of an already made sunflower picture) were cut out. There was no mention of Bellmere not eating because they didn't have enough money. Nami gets upset because she gets a hand-me-down.. which leads to an arguement between Nojiko and Nami. Nojiko says that Nami's two years younger, but Nami says that age doesn't matter. She wants new clothes too. Nojiko says that hers are used too, and that since Nami's her sister, she should get her used clothes. Nami counters back and says that Nojiko isn't even her real sister and not connected by blood. This stuns Bellemere greatly and Nami gets slapped. Then we see the scene we see in the dub with Bellmere yelling angrily (emphasis around the screen). In the dub, we immediately see Nami arguing with Bellmere, because she doesn't want to go to bed. She tells her that she's not her real mother.

     Digital Edit:
Nami's arm gets a slight edit. She was originally holding her cheek. (Image)

     Clip Edit:
The quick zoom in on Bellemere as she listens to Nami's powerful words was taken out.

As soon as Nami said that she'd rather be raised by a rich family, the clip with Bellemere's stunned face, Nami rubbing her eyes, the close up of Bellemere's bottom half of her face, and Bellmere turning her back were taken out.

Nami runs away into the rain and the 4Kids commercial begins. Before the actual eyecatcher, we see through the window Bellemere with her crossed arms looking down.

After the commercial, we immediately see daylight and many people in town shopping. After the original eyecatcher, everything before we see the people shopping was taken out. This includes Bellmere staring at her hand she used to slap Nami, Nojiko telling Bellemere that all three of them were family, Bellmere telling Nojiko to fetch Nami while she cooks something delicious for them, the rain clearing up, etc, etc.

     Digital Edit:
The word SALE on the sign was erased. No sale for you! (Image)

     Clip Edit:
The villagers trying to sell their vegetables and all sorts were taken out.

     Digital Edit:
DEAD OR ALIVE on the wanted posters are erased, as well as a word on the white note stickied on top of Buggy's wanted poster. (Image)

"COCOYASHI Vg" on the signboard is erased. (Image)

The red cross on the bag is erased, even though they're medical supplies! (Image)

     Clip Edit:
A quick flash of the war (that flashes back to Genzo while he's thinking, then back to the war) is gone.

     Digital Edit:
Missing rifle and the return of super soakers. (Image)

     Clip Edit:
Added a repeat of the scene with the medical cross erased after Genzo's first story about Bellemere, before the story that began with a storm.

Nojiko's (or Nami's) loosening her grip on Bellemere's shirt while Doctor took them was cut out.

A handful of scenes taken out. This includes from he zoomed out shot of the villagers taking Nami and Nojiko to safety until the next time we see Genzo's face from Nojiko's story, not his (it's a flashback in a flashback, but you get it). Dub viewers missed seeing Bellemere deciding to take care of the girls and raise a family (though Genzo and Doctor don't quite agree with that).

Nojiko running in was kept in. After that everything until a villager screams about pirates was cut out. This is.. Nojiko telling Nami that Bellemere is waiting for her and made Nami's favorite, Nami and Nojiko sorta dancing through the streets singing "egg and rice~!", the villagers talking about the girls, and Arlong's flag flashing in the scenes. This is a couple of minutes taken out.

The back shot of the villagers waiting for the Arlong pirates to appear down the street is cut out.

     Dialogue Edit:
The fishmen originally didn't have dialogue right after.

     Clip/Dialogue Edit:
The close up of Genzo as Arlong announces that they must purchase their lives from him and will die if they do not pay (which wasn't mentioned) is cut out.

     Clip Edit:
Bellemere cooking, followed by a zoom in on the house, then the close up of Arlong's crew, back to Nami and Nojiko, a close up of Arlong, close up of Genzo, Nojiko and Nami running towards the house, Arlong's crew again, the back shot of them, all the scenes with the villagers, a villager noticing that Nojiko and Nami are gone, and Bellemere cooking again.. are cut out!

Bellemere pouring three glasses of tangerine juice, followed by a closer shot of Nami running are cut out. The original episode 35 ends here!

Ok.. beginning episode 36. A new shot of Nami and Nojiko running is cut out. It happens right after the intro.

The still but "shifting" shot of the villagers raising their swords against the fishmen is cut out.

Bellemere licking her finger and looking at the stew is replaced with a backshot of her cooking.

The very, very far away shot of Bellmere is cut out. Her looking towards the window switched with the window shot where you can see the silhouettes of Arlong's crew.

The back shot of the fishmen while Arlong knocks at Bellemere's door is cut out.

An extremely quick shot of Bellemere in the dark lighting her cigarette before kicking Arlong is cut out.

     Digital Edit:

When Bellemere attacks Arlong, her rifle is changed to a shovel.

     Clip Edit:
Bellemere readying/loading the rifle is cut out. Strangely though, as she attacks Arlong with a shovel in the dub, you can still hear the click.

Another close up of her with her finger on the trigger before she shoves it in Arlong's mouth, and Arlong falling with a rifle in his mouth is cut out.

A close up of Arlong with the rifle in his mouth is cut out.

     Clip/Digital Edit:

But the same close up later on, except with Arlong laughing stayed in. The shovel is here again, but the actual scene of Arlong ripping the rifle to shreds with his teeth is missing.

     Color Edit:
The broken shards of the rifle/shovel are different colors. (Image)

     Clip Edit:
Doctor grabbing Nojiko and Nami away as they got close to their home is taken out. He didn't show up at all in this point of the episode in the dub. The next time he appeared in the dub was when he was treating Genzo's wounds. Arlong crushing Bellemere's arm, the broken rifle laying on the grass, Bellemere thinking that they're going to die are cut out as well.

     Digital Edit:
The horrendous bruising on Bellemere's crushed arm is erased, as well as all of her wounds. (Image)

     Clip Edit:
The close up of Genzo after Bellemere tells him that she only has a little over B100,000 is cut out. His next close up is switched with the clip where Hatchi tells Arlong there's three plates on the table.

Genzo holding Bellemere at this point of the episode is cut out both times.

The front of the paper that Kuroobi holds was never shown. (Image)

The entire scene of Doctor telling the girls to leave the island is cut out.

Arlong walking away is cut out.

Nojiko deciding that they're going to leave to protect Bellemere, thus walking away, is cut out.

Nami crying after Bellemere is silent is cut out.

The back shot of Nojiko walking away is cut out (you can tell that all of these edits have clips of Bellemere and the girls switching back and forth).

Nami's terrified look as she just hears that Bellemere confessed about having two daughters is cut out.

Nojiko turning around, Doctor and Nami terrified, and Bellemere looking up smiling with her eyes closed saying that they're a family even though they aren't blood related, her flashbacks of Nami, and Nojiko and Nami running towards Bellemere are taken out.

Bellemere looks back and forth looking for Nami and Nojiko as she hears their cries. Her looking to her left is cut out.

Bellemere opening her eyes as she hugs her two daughters and crying is cut out.

A few clips during this part is clipped, which includes both Nojiko and Nami talking to Bellemere. Her looking up to see Nami's crying face, holding her head, crying and telling them to live on is cut out. :'(

Nami crying for help and Genzo shooting two guns, Kuroobi intercepting, protecting Arlong with his fin, then slicing Genzo while Nami watches him collapse, Kuroobi smiling with his sword, while the villagers arrive, the close up of Arlong after he turned around, and him telling the fishmen to kill them are taken out.

Bellemere pushing Nami and Nojiko into the house and seeing their terrified looks are cut out. Arlong raising his gun towards Bellemere and the fishmen attacking the villagers are cut out.

     Digital Edit:

Arlong pointing the gun to Bellemere's chest is changed to a finger. He's pointing.

     Dialogue Edit:
Arlong decides to send Bellemere to a dungeon as a punishment for not having enough to pay for her life. The consequence for not paying in the original is death.

     Clip Edit:
Bellemere turned towards Nami and Nojiko and could do nothing but smile. Her last words before Arlong pulled the trigger was, "I love you." (This is cut out)

All of the memories Nami had flashed before her eyes; The black and white still moments as they witnessed what had happened. These were, removed from the dub.

Hachi taking a piece of paper from Bellemere's pocket is cut out, as well as the followed scene of Nami.

     Clip/Digital Edit:
Hachi carrying Nami off by the neck is put after this scene. Since Bellmere is alive, they took her face from when she yelled at Nami for saying that they aren't related by blood, erased the background, and placed a background with a blue sky and clouds behind her.

We now see Bellmere screaming from the time when Arlong was supposed to crush her arm. They erased Arlong so Bellmere is screaming while injured on the ground. Then we see Nojiko grabbing on Hachi's wasteband. After the clip where Genzo raises a sword against Arlong, we see a past scene of Bellemere injured on the ground (when she begins to think that she and her daughters are going to get killed).

     Color Edit:

When Kuroobi slices Genzo once more, the background is changed from red to rosey pink.

     Clip Edit:
A far away shot of Nami kicking and screaming after Genzo has fallen again, followed by Nojiko crying is cut out.

Added a close up of Bellmere after Genzo tells Arlong to leave the girls alone.

Nami crying, telling Genzo to save himself, and Nojiko down on the ground is cut out.

Nami screaming, "I don't want anyone else to die!" while Genzo's hat flies is cut out.

Half way through the original episode 36 while we're still on the dubbed episode 34. The scene of Cocoyashi trashed and Genzo being treated by Doctor, Nojiko crying at Bellemere's grave, a camera shot of the sun, the injured villagers ready to retaliate, and Nami walking with money in her hands (we see the bottom half of her) are all cut out. After Kuroobi knocks Genzo out in the dub, it's a commercial break, and then we see Nami walking from very far away (but we can't clearly see her), which happens after Nojiko turns around in the original.

One shot of the villagers after Nami yelled at Nojiko about not wanting to live properly is cut out.

Nojiko screaming at Nami for what she said after Bellemere gave her life for them, Genzo stopping Nojiko, Genzo telling Nami to never step foot in the village again, and all the short clips in between are cut out.

After Nami runs away, every scene from that until we see Sanji (thus ending Nojiko's story) is cut out. This is another huge chunk of the episode. The part that dub viewers will miss is Nami telling Nojiko during night at Bellemere's grave what she decided to do. She remembers that Bellemere used to say, that as long as they keep on living, lots of good things will happen. She's going to buy Cocoyashi for B100,000,000 and fight on her own.

     Clip Edit:
Usopp bending his nose up while he thinks about the situation is cut out.

Nojiko remembering Nami running away from pirates when she stole money is gone, as well as every single scene afterwards of Nami deciding that she's going to be a pirate thief. In the dub we immediately see a side view of Nami as she smiles and holds her hands in thought after seeing Nojiko.

     Dialogue Edit:
In the original, Nami needed B7,000,000 left, while in the dub, Nami needed B70,000.

     Clip Edit:
The bottom half of Nami while her feet sweep across the floor is cut out.

Nami smiling with her eyes closed as she thinks about laughing from the bottom of her heart is cut out.

The clip with Luffy stepping into the village and standing, Genzo's pinwheel spinning, Luffy sweating, and the close up of Nezumi's hat are cut out.

     Digital Edit:
The words on this man's shirt are erased. (Image)

     Clip Edit:
The following scenes are missing: Luffy asking why Genzo has a pinwheel on his head, and all the scenes afterwards until the end of episode 36. It is the scene where Nami decides to go on a final stealing spree, and the marines arriving and telling Nami that they're going to confiscate all of her treasures.
