Episode 035: You Dirty Rat!
(Episode 037: Luffy Stands Up! End of a Broken Promise!)

New characters introduced: None

     Dubbed Title Meaning:
"You dirty rat!" can refer to two people.. Nezumi and Arlong. Nezumi because he looks like a mouse and stealing all of Nami's money, and Arlong for breaking the promise he made to Nami 8 years ago.

     Clip Edit:
Some of the scenes that were cut out after Genzo passes Luffy in the last episode are now shown in the "On the last piece of One Piece..."

After Arlong asks Nami if she wanted her village back so badly, the shot of Nami after that is cut out, it's the same as the shot before Arlong asked.

The flashback of when Nami was a little bit older, running away from the pirates and saying that she'll do it (get 100mil) no matter how long it takes, these are taken out.

After Genzo tells Nezumi about Nami's use for her money, the clip that showed one of the Navy/Marine falling that Nami just took out afterwards is gone.

Genzo tells Nami that the villagers always knew what her reasons were for joining Arlong's gang. Then we see a quick flashback of her when she returned to Cocoyashi village for the first time after being abducted by Arlong. The part that dubbed viewers will miss is the back shot of Nami while she says that she's going to join Arlong's crew, and the close ups of Genzo and Nojiko after Nami reveals her tatoo.

The clip of two leaves falling on the grass after Genzo tells Nami everything are cut out.

     Color Edit:
Color change! On Nezumi's gun (you know, he's voiced by dub Yugi's VA! .. I'm pretty sure) so it looks a little toyish. [Dub|Sub]

     Clip Edit:
After Nezumi pulls the gun out and Nami dashes towards him, a second clip with a close up of Nezumi pointing the gun is cut out, and then the clip of him actually firing and hitting Nojiko are cut out.

A clip of the villagers responding to what Genzo said about Nezumi and Arlong working together is cut out.

Chew walking to the left as Arlong is speaking is cut out. This happens a little after Nami ran away from Arlong.

Back to Usopp and Sanji.. Sanji taking out a lighter, lighting up, and putting it back in his coat is cut out (as well as everything else that would make him look like a smoker).

As Nami arrives back at the village while the villagers were ready to retaliate, there is another quick flashback of the events that took place 8 years ago, and all of that is cut out.

Genzo grabbing Nami's knife with his hand, and the still shot of him afterwards is cut out.

Nami raises her hand against her shoulder as she hears Arlong's laughter in her head, in the dub we didn't see her hand. It happens again right after but it's a digital edit.

     Digital Edit:
This is related to the above clip edit. [Dub|Sub]

     Clip Edit:
They showed a repeat of the same clip that was shown earlier of Arlong laughing in the dub and replaced the original clip that had the camera zooming out from Arlong in his chair as he laughed. All the scenes afterwards are cut out, which includes Nami clutching her arm, grabbing the knife, repeatedly stabbing her arm, Luffy stopping her [Sub], and Nami dropping the knife. Instead, they took a scene from later on in the episode (right before the march to Arlong Park) of Luffy walking and showed it after seeing the repeated clip of Arlong laughing. But.. afterwards in the dub they did include a shot of a very angry Nami and then right after showed the scene where Nami, in the original told Luffy to save/help her, then a close up of Luffy. Then it went to the scene with the backshot of Luffy and Nami, which in the original is shown after Luffy stops Nami. Hope that wasn't too confusing..

The close up shot of Nami's hand clutching the ground is cut out.

After Nami throws dirt at Luffy, the second clip of both of her hands clutching the ground is cut out.

The close up of Luffy I mentioned a min ago is now shown in the original, so 4Kids took this scene and put it in earlier than it should've.

Moving a lot of scenes around it seems.. the part where Nami turns around and asks Luffy to help her is at this point cut out, but moved to the part after Nami looks at her tatoo angrily which was just a bit earlier.

One frontal close up of Luffy is cut out, the one where his eyes are covered by shadows from his hat. [Sub]

     Clip/Dialogue Edit:
After Luffy screams out "DAMN RIGHT!!" in the original ("Then let's go!!" in the dub), Nami looks up and remembers the time when Luffy told Buggy's crew not to touch his hat. That flashback is cut out.. then we see Nami again but a little more zoomed in than the first time.. in the dub the zoomed out version is cut out.

     Dialogue Edit:
Dubbed Luffy is given dialogue as he walks towards the rest of the Straw Hat crew.

     Clip Edit:
The camera zooming out to reveal Johnny and Yosaku blocking the door to Arlong Park and the side shot of Genzo that happens afterwards is cut out.

Yosha! The march to Arlong Park. Well, two scene are taken out but that's it. A far away side view of the Straw Hats walking towards the right, and the scene afterwards which is a close up of them (Zoro being the closest to the camera).
