Episode 047: Escape from Misty Peak
(Episode 067: Deliver Princess Vivi! Luffy Pirates Depart and
Episode 078: Nami is Sick? Beyond the Snow that Falls on the Ocean)
New characters introduced: Miss Allsunday (Miss Sunday), Banchi (Bunchi), Mr. 2 Bon Clay
Digital Edit:
Just as a side note for this episode's screenshots. You may compare them and find out that a bit of the bottom of
the dubbed screenshots are cut off a bit. This is not a change by 4kids, but it's due to the my video file for 47. Notice
how the logo for 4Kids is nearly gone. Anyways.. because dub 46 ended when the eyecatcher appeared for 66, the beginning
of 47 picks up where we left off. Digital edits, bottles hidden near Usopp and Sanji are removed. [Dub|Sub]
[Dub|Sub]
Audio Edit:
Audio edit? Not really sure.. but Usopp and Sanji weren't snoring in the original when Luffy looked at them after dragging them all over the place.
Clip Edit:
After the above, Zoro looking at them in disgust before Luffy drags the two guys on the ground is cut out.
Going Merry sets sail and Vivi seems lost in thought before Zoro calls her. That part with Vivi is cut out.
When Vivi tells everyone that there's about 2000 employees in Baroque Works, Nami's kinda worried. Then she looks over to
Usopp and Sanji who finally woke up. The part that was cut out is Nami looking over.
Name Change:
Miss Allsunday's name is changed to Miss Sunday in the dub.
Digital Edit:
Sanji pulls out a gun to point at Miss Allsunday's head at her right side while Usopp readies his slingshot on her left side.
Sanji shall not wield a gun.. but a katana! [Dub|Sub]
[Dub|Sub]
[Dub|Sub] If you think about it though, would it be more logical for Sanji to carry a
gun in his pocket, or grab a katana from somewhere on the ship (probably)? Or neither? Don't mind me, I'm just rambling
on.. [Dub|Sub]
Clip/Dialogue Edit:
After some time, Miss Allsunday comments about protecting a princess that Crocodile wants dead. To be exact, it's after she
puts on Luffy's hat and the camera shifts to Vivi, from Miss Allsunday's point of view. After that, which is cut out is a
front shot of Miss Allsunday with her legs crossed, Nami looking down at her log pose, and a close up shot of Allsunday's
face as she talks to them more. At these times, she mentions a place called Little Garden, which, yes, you guessed it,
doesn't exist in the dub.
Dialogue Edit:
After handing an eternal pose to Vivi and returning Luffy's hat to him, she tells the crew that the eternal pose will lead
them to a place called Nanimonai Island (Nanimonai meaning "nothing" in Japanese) that is supposedly close to Arabasta.
In the dub, since the whole "Your log pose is currently leading you to Little Garden" wasn't mentioned, Allsunday's given
eternal compass would lead them straight to Alabasta.
Digital Edit:
And for that, the words Nanimonai Shima are erased. [Dub|Sub]
Dialogue Edit:
Dubbed Luffy tells Nami that someone like Miss Allsunday doesn't decide the ship's route, but Luffy originally said that
Nami doesn't decide their route (since she was mad at Luffy for crushing the eternal pose).
Clip Edit:
After being knocked down, Miss Allsunday looks at Luffy while he looks back. The one close up of Luffy's face is cut out.
Two screens later, Luffy and Nami are in the same shot. Luffy puts his hat back on, and is mad at Miss Allsunday for killing
Igaram. This part is cut out.
Name Change:
I don't really know whether it's part of Miss Sunday's southern-ish accent while pronouncing her turtle's name, or if it
was a translation error, but in the dub she calls him Bunchi when it was originally called Banchi.
Digital Edit:
Hey, Banchi smokes too :p it's erased in the dub. [Dub|Sub]
Dialogue Edit:
When Miss Sunday leaves and Vivi falls to her knees, she tells the crew she's sorry about not telling them about another
eternal compass that Igaram gave her.. hmm. Another compass magically appears. In the original, she didn't understand
what Miss Allsunday was thinking when she wanted to help them out.
Clip/Dialogue Edit:
A little red arrow points at Luffy when Zoro says that they have somebody who tries to understand stuff that is not understandable..
no red arrow in the dub. [Sub]
After pointing like that, Usopp talks in the same screen and panics about not knowing what's going on. That's cut out.
Clip Edit:
The screen turns white as Going Merry sails in the fog and unfortunately the rest of episode 67 is cut out. A new day
arrives with some bit of interesting chatter among the crew, and the arrival to Little Garden.
Taking a trip to episode 78.. the dub continues on at the 5:47 mark, which is right after we leave the two giants of Little
Garden. Going Merry sailing in the calm sea~
Two screens later is a far away shot of Going Merry sailing, which is cut out.
Dialogue Edit:
I probably don't need to remind you now, but all talk of Elbaf and the giants are not present.
Luffy and Usopp's song about the giants is changed to this in the dub:
We're an awesome band of pirates, and here is what we say:
When to fight again, when to fight again!
Forgive me if some words are incorrect.
Clip Edit:
After the first shot of Luffy and Usopp dancing to their song, there is a close up shot of Nami's sweating hand that is
cut out.
Digital Edit:
Strange. This time around, their Grand Compass is blank, even if it originally said Alabasta on it. [Dub|Sub]
Clip Edit:
Marking the beginning of Vivi's flashback, a shot of the window is cut out.
When Luffy and the two others head towards the kitchen, Nami appears to be more tired. The part that is cut out is her
point of view afterwards, staring at the wooden floor with blurry vision.
Occuring right after, Zoro's training hard. He also comments about the ordeal with the wax (Little Garden). This entire
part is cut out.
Interesting Note:
Mr. 2 appears! Even though you could only see a little, a bit of the kanji on his cape is left intact. It's going to be
gone later on, you know it.
Dialogue Edit:
Swanda (Swan and Panda together), his ship is not mentioned.
A pretty big dialogue edit here. Mr. 2 was assigned a job to assassinate Mr. 3 for failing. He was to intercept Mr. 3's
ship while he was leaving Little Garden to go to Arabasta (The Unluckies gave him, or Mr. Prince I should say, the eternal
pose to Arabasta, that's how the Straw Hats were able to obtain one). Since Mr. 3 never appeared in the dub yet, it's all
right for one to question the reason Mr. 2 is.. telling his men to go fetch his tu-tu in the water. That's right, that's
dub material. Isn't he wearing one already?
Doesn't end there. Mr. 2 likes to say "Un, Deux, Trois" (1, 2, 3 in French) once in a while, but in the dub he rambles on
about tu-tu this and toe toe that and 2 and tu and.. *dies*
Digital Edit:
There, see, I told you, the kanji on Bon Clay's cape is erased. [Dub|Sub]
Clip Edit:
Some scene switching and inserting. After only seeing the bottom part of Bon Clay's face, insert a frontal shot of Going
Merry sailing. I'm not too sure which episode it came from, but.. that's okay ^^; so, after you insert that, there is a
nice close up shot of the Straw Hat Jolly Roger which is left intact, but right after, a shot of Vivi's hands holding the
eternal pose goes missing.
After Sanji goes berserk after hearing about Nami's condition, a shot of Nami's shoulder is cut out.
Dialogue Edit:
Even, even, EVEN though Vivi mentions about the abnormal climate in both versions, dubbed Vivi says it's probably Grand Line
Fever. None of that in the original. Nami got a strange bite on her stomach at the end of the Little Garden arc!
Luffy suggests something for Nami to eat.. like meat! (if you haven't noticed, meat is the most awesomest thing to Luffy next to his nakama and his straw hat)
In the dub he suggests something cold, like ice cream.
When Sanji tells Usopp and Luffy that he gives all the rotten crap to them to eat, Luffy thinks it still tastes good, but
dubbed Luffy now realizes why Sanji's dishes stink.
Digital Edit:
Some erasing on the books behind Vivi. [Dub|Sub]
Dialogue Edit:
Vivi finds out that Nami's temperature is at 40 degrees Celsius, while her temperature in the dub has not been mentioned yet.
Luffy turns to Sanji and Usopp and asks them if being sick is really that painful. Both Sanji and Usopp turn their heads and
say they don't know, they've never been sick before.. while in the dub, *ahem*:
Luffy: What do pirates always say?
Sanji/Usopp: We live to fight another day.
All right, finally mentioned, a 103 degrees Fahrenheit fever. That's.. pretty much the same as 40C.
Digital Edit:
Removal of the word Maichyo on the newspaper. [Dub|Sub]
Dialogue Edit:
Specific numbers of soldiers involved in the upcoming war are not mentioned.
Digital Edit:
When the whole crew is out to listen to Nami, Sanji's cigarette isn't changed, it's not in his mouth at all. It's back in
his mouth a few screens later.
Clip Edit:
After looking at the eternal pose, Nami struggles from her fever, which is cut out.
Immediately after the above, Vivi is sitting on her bed with the newspaper. That and opening the door to go outside (including
Zoro looking up after she arrives) is cut out.
A close up of Vivi's eyes as she speaks is cut out.
When Nami smiles, a close up of Sanji, Luffy, and Usopp are cut out.
Before a side shot of Zoro, Sanji comments Vivi's plan, and that is cut out.
Nami collapses and Vivi catches her, this happens before Luffy freaks out about a cyclone they almost hit. Nami collapsing is
cut out, and is put at a later time.
A group shot of everyone minus Zoro talking about the cyclone is cut out.
Lightning hitting the surface of the ocean is cut out.
Dialogue Edit:
Talk about Nami sensing the weather was originally from Vivi's thoughts, not Luffy explaining to Vivi.
Clip Edit:
A close up of Nami's face and Vivi's face afterwards is cut out.
After the storm settles down, insert that missing clip of Nami collapsing into Vivi's arms. The dubbed episode ends.
At this point in the original, snow begins to fall from the sky. Zoro spots a mysterious being standing on the water's
surface...
