Episode 051: The Big Climb
(Episode 083: Island that Lives in Snow! Ascend the Drum Rockies!)
New characters introduced: None
Clip Edit:
Right, so if you remember from last time, the episode ended when Luffy takes just a quick glance behind him, only to find
Wapol and his men following him. In the end of 82, what's left is Wapol cutting Luffy off, and this is cut out. So really,
this dub 51 starts at the same time 83 starts! Man, and this is only one episode only, just one.. the first time in how
long? *sheds a small tear*
Dialogue Edit:
Wapol changes the new law to something slightly different. In the original, it was, "Anyone who ignores the King is to be
executed at that very instant", whereas in the dub it was, "From here on out, just looking for a doctor without my OK will
bring forth my enforcers' wrath".
Name Change:
Kuromarimo's Bikkuri Marimo (Surprising Marimo) doesn't have an official name in the dub, Kuromarimo just talks about the
"spiked balls about to drop".
Clip/Dialogue Edit:
Right before dubbed Luffy realizes that he can't fight Wapol's men, there was supposed to be a little flash of the time
when Sanji told Luffy to not fight while Nami's on his back.
Name Change:
While initiating their combo attack on Luffy, Kuromarimo's Yuki Geshou (Snow Makeup) had no name.
Chess and Kuromarimo's Checkmate attack had no name.
Clip Edit:
When Luffy has a flashback of saving the Lapahn earlier on, the parts that were cut out were the same as last episode's
comparison. (refer to 50's comparison for the details).
After Wapol becomes furious of the lapahn, the screen leaves him to view the blizzard. The camera moves around from high
above about 3 times, and the second screen (seeing Luffy down below walking) is cut out, leaving the third one (Luffy
standing still in the snow.. it's getting deep) alone in the dub. Fairly hard to describe, but I hope it's at least a little
understandable.
After the commercial break here, there is a short repeat of the view of the Drum Rockies from Luffy's point of view, before
showing Nami in Luffy's care.
Digital Edit:
Blood edit? I dunno, it's fairly hard to tell from my point of view. Or red scratches? I don't know.. [Dub|Sub]
Usopp goggles! No nose sticking out from the snow.. [Dub|Sub]
Clip Edit:
When Vivi starts to get Usopp out, the close up of her pulling on his nose is cut out.
Audio Edit:
Vivi's rapid slapping sound is changed to a punching sound.
Dialogue Edit:
In the dub, Usopp repeats his thanks to Vivi like a broken record. In the original, he asks questions such as, "is it me
or is my face swollen?" and "is it me, or does my head seem a bit heavier?" and "is it me, or is my field of vision
narrower?" and "yeah, it's probably just my imagination."
Color Edit:
A blood edit, but no screenshot for you! It's so painful just looking at it. When Luffy continues to climb up, he
eventually gets to a point where his fingers bleed and he accidentally drops Sanji. The blood is gone, so it looks much
less painful to see..
Digital/Color Edit:
Not only is this man's gun missing, but Drum guns are tinted green, as always.. [Dub|Sub]
Digital Edit:
Can you see it? The word FOX on his arm is erased. [Dub|Sub]
Dialogue Edit:
As the townspeople run past Zoro, the last one thanks him which causes him to turn his head. In the dub there were no thanks.
Color Edit:
Friggin' blood edit again, which is even more painful than the first one. Poor Luffy.. Gaaah.. hurts to watch..
Clip Edit:
After that painful bit, Luffy continues on and reaches up two more times. Right after grabbing with his right hand, the
close up of his face is cut out and the sight of the drum rockies from his view is cut out. After that, Luffy looks up, and
then gets closer to the camera, but in the dub, it cuts right to the close up.
Right before the view of the very top of the Drum Rockies (Luffy made it!) the repeat of him grabbing once with all his
might is cut out.
When he does reach the top, the screen fading to white right before Luffy lets go of Sanji is cut out.
Audio Edit:
As Luffy falls and Chopper grabs onto his arm, the "boing" sfx is silent in the dub.
Dialogue Edit:
Chopper originally refers Kureha as Doctorine, but in the dub it's just Doctor.
Interesting Note:
Dubbed Chopper says that Nami's illness is due to Kestia! That's great and all, not Grand Line Fever.
Digital Edit:
Medical cross and others from the medicine bottle is erased. [Dub|Sub]
Dialogue Edit:
Nami originally didn't have dialogue at the end of the episode.
