Episode 056: Let's Get Ready to Rumble
(Episode 088: Devil's Fruit of the Zoan Family! Chopper's Seven-Level Transformation)
New characters introduced: None
Clip Edit:
Scenes seem to be the same after the dub title. All the redrawn parts used for the recap (and a little bit after the title
for 88) are taken out. Take a look at the title screen for the dub. By that time in 88, they've already gone through a quick
recap with the redrawn parts, shown their title, and then a full picture of Luffy holding the flag up. This is still the
recap, mind you..
So when Luffy yells at Wapol and they get blown away by it, the recap continues but is cut out. It starts with the close
up of Hiluluk's flag, goes on with Chopper's astonishment, Chopper remembering what Hiluluk told him about going out to sea..
then Luffy brings him back to his senses by calling him. In the dub when Wapol and Chessmarimo gets blown away, Luffy calls
out to Chopper.
Name Change:
Kureha's Doctor Stop has no name.
Clip Edit:
After Chopper brings out his Rumble Ball (hasn't been announced in the dub yet) the story takes us to where Vivi and
Usopp are. At the beginning of the whole thing, a far away view of all the people gathered around are inserted before
seeing Dalton motionless in the snow. This shot originally happens after the Isshi-20 talk about Dalton's current state.
Digital Edit:
What ish this white line I see? And yes, the arrows are still gone, but something else was left behind. [Dub|Sub]
Better this time. Just a bit of redrawing instead. There's more that I haven't included, but I think you get the idea. [Dub|Sub]
Clip Edit:
Because the far away view was pushed back in the dub (mentioned in the last clip edit) it is gone when it is supposed to
happen.
There are two men who agree with Zoro and Usopp. In the dub, the left man speaks first, then the left man. In the original,
the right man speaks first, looks down, continues to speak, then the left man speaks. You can see where the cutting is.
Dialogue Edit:
When Kureha tells Sanji to watch, he keeps on telling her that he wants to fight too! In the dub, he tells Chopper "good luck".
Chopper calls out "Rumble!" when Chessmarimo readies a fire arrow in the dub, he calls out "Rumble" as soon as he bites into
it in the original.
Name Change:
Chessmarimo's Yukidoke no Ya Marimo (Snow-thawing Arrow Marimo) is called Snow Melting Arrows.
Chopper's Walk Point is called Sprint Boost. You know, in the original in this one episode, Chopper yells out his "Point",
and then whatever is strengthened. For example, this Walk Point, he says "Walk Point! Kyakuryoku Kyouka! (Strengthen Walk
Power!)". In the dub it's just the Spring Boost that's called.
Chopper's Heavy Point has no name. No fear, in the little 4Kids insert called "The Deer Tales" they called it the Heavy
Boost.
Dialogue Edit:
No mention of the Zoan type fruits.
Name Change:
Chessmarimo's Dobikkuri Marimo! Quatro Hammer! (Super Surprise Marimo! Four Hammers!) is just called "Super Surprise
Quatro Hammer".
His Jumping Point becomes the Jumping Boost.
And his Guard Point is his Guard Boost.
Dialogue Edit:
Rumble Ball controlling the wavelength in the original and frequency in the dub.. worth a mention I guess?
Clip Edit:
After the English commercial break, there is an inserted shot from the past.. don't think I need to dig it up. It's a view
of the castle with the backs of Wapol and Chessmarimo, but they're pretty tiny.
The half second zoom out from Chopper's face (occurs right after the eyecatch, which conveniently occurs at the same time
as the English commercial) is cut out.
Name Change:
His Arm Point is his Arm Boost.
Chessmarimo's Bikkuri Marimo! Quatro Axe! Yukiwarisou! (Surprise Marimo! Four Axes! Snow-cutting Grass!) is Supreme
Quatro Axe! Snow Slashing Blade!
His Happou Yukidare (Snow Falling From All Directions) is called Multidirectional Snow Splitter.
Chopper's Brain Point is his Brain Boost.
His Scope is called Rumble Scope (and was called out later).
Dialogue Edit:
They even say "Beam!" in English, but they called it a laser in the dub.
Clip/Digital Edit:
When Sanji criticizes Luffy for his statement, he turns around and tells him to shut up. In the dub, he's already turned
around, with his lips missing though.. they re-appear when he talks, or mocks Sanji as he did. [Dub|Sub]
Right after that in the original, Wapol figured that this is a good chance to go... instead in the dub, you've got repeat
of Luffy's face when he thought it must've been a beam. Do you remember earlier on when Sanji said he wanted to fight, but
instead in the dub, told Chopper "good luck"? After the pic with Luffy, play the part with Sanji backwards. So you've got
him talking, then suddenly his head goes down and you see Kureha on top of him. Then Wapol finally decides to sneak out.
Dialogue Edit:
And holy crap, how many times has dubbed Wapol said "the castle is mine!!" in the past few or so episodes? Almost like how
you expected a pun to come out of Zolo back in the Misty Peak episodes.
Name Change:
chopper's Kokutei Roseo (Cutting Hoof ) is called Reindeer Roundhouse in the dub.
Audio Edit:
Ouch.. audio edit for the time when Kokutei Roseo is executed. You know when Chess' chin goes red, in the original it sounded
like bones cracking. In the dub, it was kind of like a "plop" noise, I know I've heard of it before...
Dialogue Edit:
Luffy was laughing in the Japanese version when you see Hiluluk's flag waving in the top right hand corner. In the dub, he
goes on about pirates flags honoring pirates and all of that.
Clip/Dialogue Edit:
When Vivi takes a deep breath, she runs through thoughts in her head, while the camera is focussed on a dark area somewhere
on the island while a blizzard takes place. She talks about how Usopp believes in his nakama. Instead of this, the dub
goes through about four still shots of areas around Drum - window, shovel, the town, etc. while Usopp continues to talk.
Not sure/don't remember where those still shots came from.. weren't from this episode anyways.
Dialogue Edit:
The return of the Zolo chicken cluck!
Manly Usopp.. sigh. Dubbed Usopp agonizing makes me agonize. I'll keep a clip of this handy so everything is explained
very, very easily...
