Episode 077: The Great Escape
(Episode 109: The Key to Turning the Tide and a Great Escape! Doru Doru Ball!)
The first change is right at the beginning! Time to reveal Mr. Prince's plan to rescue everybody. Do you remember from last episode's comparison, that there was a little change with Mr. Prince? Do check back if you don't remember, it's essential for the second half of it all. I shall start with the first screen you see after the title.
Clip/Digital Edit:

The dub opens with the above shot. This isn't until later in the original. I'll explain: 109 opens with Sanji leading Vivi in to save the crew. Vivi is surprised to see him alive since they heard the gunshot through the Den Den Mushi. Sanji then tells her the events that happened up to where they are now. Though a lot of scenes get a little out of order, they're still in the episode.. Now to tell you what isn't in the episode at all. There's one clip where Sanji puts his hand on Vivi's shoulder, telling her that they should be on their way. Another one is the gunshot and Sanji tripping the Billions (this is shown in the previous episode instead). He gets him to talk, but then remember that little change from last episode. As you can also see, there is a little digital edit because Mr. Prince decides to get Chopper to talk on the phone instead of the Billion. Remember, Chopper never spoke to Crocodile in the original! At this point, Sanji already got him to talk, and the Billion wanted to leave but he wasn't allowed to. It seems that the Billion in the dub wants to leave, assuming that Sanji had him there to phone up Crocodile for him, thus the increase in the number of people who talk to Croc in the last episode.
Digital Edit:

So, Mr. Prince gets Chopper to talk on the phone. He says the things he said in the previous episode after Mr. Prince supposedly gets shot. Something wrong here? Yes, sir.
Clip Edit:

They've also done the unthinkable! Mirroring Mr. Prince! (That looks funky, doesn't it?)
Clip Edit:
After the above as Sanji denies the Billion's request to leave, he hits him offscreen while the camera focuses on the "Casino" sign for Rain Dinners, and this (the screen with the sign) of course, has been cut. The problem with this, is that you instantly see the Billion knocked out, but then you also hear Sanji's kick to him as you see the guy in pain.
Digital Edit:
Chopper stands before the Billions and poses as Mr. Prince. The "Casino" on the Rain Dinners sign behind him is erased.
The actual words "Rain Dinners" behind Chopper as he attacks the billions as Mr. Prince are erased.
"Rainslo" and "GoldenSlots" on a couple of buildings is erased. This is when the camera moves from right to left viewing the city, and before Crocodile sees the mess that Chopper made.
Inconsistency:
One of the conscious Billions tells Crocodile that it was Mr. Prince's doings. Well, the words "Rain Dinners" are back now. In fact, it appears again soon later and a sign in Rain Dinners isn't erased like it always is. You'll see this one when the people inside feel the vibrations from the collapsing bridge. It seems that all of the signs are left alone from here on, until we see Chopper sneaking around Crocodile while Crocodile continues to hunt for Mr. Prince.
Clip Edit:
After you see the bridge actually collapse, there's a mess with the scenes, but hear me out. The camera moving from the top of Rain Dinners to close to the bottom was inserted. This is from the very beginning of 109 after the title, but remember the very first edit. You don't actually see anyone and the scene changes before you see the "Casino" on the sign. Then, you see a shot of the crowd gazing at the collapsed bridge, with Sanji and Vivi running further in far behind them all. This was from the earlier part of 109 before Sanji told his story to Vivi. Now, remember where we actually are in the dubbed episode. The overview shot of the missing bridge leading to Rain Dinners is occurs now. But then, if that occurs, these are cut out: A shot of Allsunday, Sanji walking in (he caused the bridge to collapse), grinning, and smoking, all occuring after the other. So, continuing after the overview shot, apply those parts (Robin and Sanji scenes) that were cut out and we continue on! I tell no lies!
Dialogue Edit:
We're continuing on, which means we're on the part where the camera is on Vivi while she's running. Strange enough, Sanji talks during this moment, and Vivi talks while the camera is on Sanji. They didn't like how Sanji was talking while he was grinning so this is why they did that, probably. The only thing wrong is that while the camera is on Vivi, her mouth opens and close while Sanji talks.
When Usopp corrects Luffy about the Bananacrocs, he uses the Monkey Dance as a comparison but this analogy isn't used in the dub.
Clip Edit:
Before we see Zoro frusterated at being unable to cut through the Kairouseki cage, there is a repeat of the water flowing through the cracks of the wall.
Name Change:
Sanji's Anti-Manner Kick Course became Frogs Leg Kick (or maybe Frogs'/Frog's Leg Kick?).
Clip Edit:
After taking care of the Bananacroc, a couple of shots are gone. There's a quick one where you see Sanji's legs just above the water and the one after that, where Sanji kind of poses with his arm held out holding his cigarette.
Dialogue Edit:
Why does Crocodile (dub) sound so worried about Sanji finding the cage? Later on, he gets confident because he had the real key, and in the original, he has been all along.
Name Change:
No Doru Doru Kaecha (Break) for Mr. 3, who has just emerged from his ball that came out of the bananacroc. Instead, he continues on with his jokes.
Clip Edit:
I don't think I need to explain much about the big change with Mr. 3, since most of that was covered in the episode where he first appeared. Mr. 3 has now thrown the key away, so now what? Usopp figures out that the best way out is by using Mr. 3's ability to make a wax key to open the door. Sanji never knew about his ability since he never met Mr. 3 until now. BUT! Now we're in a position where the entire SH crew found out about his ability when he came out of his Doru Doru Ball (or Wax Wax Ball, in the dub). On with the edit - Sanji gets angry at the situation, and that's when Usopp thinks of the idea. A shot of Usopp is gone, as well as the shot where Sanji looks to his direction.
Dialogue Edit:
So the camera zooms in on the laughing Mr. 3 and you see the idea of his finger becoming a wax key. In the dub, Sanji thinks he can trick Mr. 3. He says that he'll laugh at his jokes if he makes a key to the lock with his finger and open the cage. Surprise, Mr. 3 thought that was a chance he couldn't pass up so he opens the door and tells a joke, which leads to the next edit...
Clip Edit:

Sanji already beat Mr. 3 up before he opened the cage, and this is revealed to us when we see Mr. 3's face after opening it. That's the real reason Mr. 3 opened the cage after all the trouble of figuring out the SH's dilemma and throwing the key away. This time, he told his joke after opening it and we see the shot on the right, not the one you see on the left. This is also when Sanji attaches the note on him before giving him the final blow.
Since the shot (the left picture) isn't put in, Sanji attaching the note isn't there, so Mr. 3 looking down isn't there either.
Sanji walking towards the camera before kicking Mr. 3 into the walls is inserted. I think it was from the time when Sanji walked up to Mr. 3, surprising him. This is where he sarcastically "laughs" at Mr. 3's joke, as promised.
Digital Edit:

The note on Mr. 3 has been altered.
Clip Edit:
They're out of the water and Smoker attacks Zoro for saving him. When Smoker's jutte is blocked by Zoro's sword, the screen fades to white before fading into a closer look on Zoro, but in the dub the fade isn't there.
A frontal shot of Smoker is repeated before the camera slowly zooms in on a ready-to-fight Luffy.
Dialogue Edit:
Luffy originally smiles and laughs at Smoker because he said he didn't hate him. In the dub, he says that it's great that they know he (Smoker)'s a pussycat.
Clip Edit:
Smoker putting a second cigar in his mouth as he watches Luffy and Zoro run away is cut out.
Dialogue Edit:
You've been waiting for it: Luffy finally says, "See ya later alligators! YEAH!!"
Oops, it looks like everybody was supposed to go "AYE!!" after Luffy tells them that Alubarna was their next destination, but Luffy's earlier "YEAH!!" was there instead (the above).
